Hey everyone I’ve been sick the last two weeks so no new work to really show. I havent completed the last piece but I did start a new piece. I think I’m only going to do one more after this one, at least in terms of letter size pages.

On a side note I bought my first video game in over four years. I’ll be doing a piece on it for fun that I’ll put up on here.

Also, would anyone be interested in prints of these works? Or any of my things particularly?

This right here is worth to me it’s weight in gold. This will become my inspiration when things are tough. This is Akira Kurosawa’s Criterion Box Set. It has all of Akira Kurosawa’s movies for the exception of five of his movies, those including; Dreams,The Quiet Duel, Dersu Uzala, Rhapsody In August and Ran.

Criterion had a flashsale of 50% off MSRP price a couple weeks ago that I took advantage of. My first purchase was something I had had my eye for more than a year and a half. Akira Kurosawa is the one artist I believe in more than any other. More than any cartoonist. Or writer. Or painter. He is the inspiration that keeps me up until 2 or three in the morning every night. He is the one who showed me the importance of honing your craft. He showed me how powerful stories are. Akira Kurosawa means everything to me.

Yesterday was his birthday and this weekend his movies are showing for free on Hulu.

I once saw an interview with Kurosawa where he said that if you were to write one page of a script a day, within 60 days you would have a film. The importance of committing yourself to your work, even if it is only an hour a day or a page a day, is one of the most important things I’ve learned in the past four years.

To celebrate what would have been Akira Kurosawa’s 103rd birthday if he hadn’t died in 1998, Hulu is streaming 24 of his films from the Criterion collection, plus various supplementary featurettes and interviews, for free this weekend. They’re available now through Sunday at the site’s Happy Birthday, Akira Kurosawa page, and they amount to more than 44 hours of viewing, so you’ve got just about enough time to make some lame excuse to your boss, professor, or the friends you made plans with this weekend, then head straight home, grab some popcorn, and move in for the duration.
